Community Based Rehabilitation

Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) is a concept that refers to the provision of support to people with disabilities by the community and within the community. It involves the decentralization of human and financial responsibilities and resources towards organizations that work within local communities. CBR aims to provide the community with the necessary skills to guarantee that all members – including people with disabilities - have equal access to local resources and fully participate in the economic, social and political life of the community. Our Approach Rehabilitation, equal opportunities and social integration are at the heart of our strategy. CBR projects are implemented through the combined efforts of people with disabilities, their families and their communities, and through an access to education and adequate medical care and social services. CBR projects strive to stimulate local initiatives and self-determination by supporting projects in which people with disabilities are the main actors. CBR activities also include income-generating projects or sport and social activities.
