Our mission
Handicap International is a non-profit humanitarian organization focused on the issue of disability.
Since its creation in 1982, the vision of Handicap International is to promote sustainable change to ensure that people with disabilities, victims of war or natural disasters, and people affected by disease or poverty are treated as full citizens with equal opportunities for community participation.
The organization currently carries out more than 250 projects in over 60 countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. Handicap International works for:
Raising awareness in the community regarding the causes and effects of disability.
Working in partnership with local, national and international decision makers in order to: - reduce the impact and consequences of disability on affected people - abolish arms (mines and cluster munitions) targeting civilian populations Mobilizing resources (human and financial) in order to promote our programmes and projects in the fields of disability and public health. The values of solidarity, mutual aid, brotherhood, equity, justice and impartiality are the basis of the concept of "Equality of Opportunity", reflected with the organization's motto " Standing Tall ".
