Your role will be to provide:
• Physical rehabilitation services (direct rehabilitation therapy services, mobility aids and adaptive devices)
• Capacity building of organisations and government health centre staff (on disability rehabilitation.
You will closely work with the national Physiotherapists, East Outreach Prosthesis & Orthosis team as well as support services team. You will remain directly accountable to the Rehabilitation Project Manager for all aspects of your role and will have strong functional links with national technical unit for quality implementation of the projects.
Your responsibilities will be:
• In coordination with hospital therapy staff, doctors and nurses to:
o Ensure provision of quality rehabilitation services to person with disability / injury through Physical Rehabilitation Need Assessment of Person with Disability / Injury,
o Provide rehabilitation Therapy sessions and follow-up sessions,
o Assess and prescribe provision of mobility aids and adaptive devices,
o Give support, advice and train Person with disability / Injury and family members on preventive care, disability and physical rehabilitation,
o Strengthen Government Physiotherapy departments on provision of physical rehabilitation services through capacity building
• Provide Prosthesis & Orthosis services, training and advice on usage of devices to persons with disabilities and their families / care givers
• Conduct training needs assessment, preparation, organisation, conduction and follow-up
of formal trainings
• Provide leadership, guidance and training to implementing partners
• Oversee identification of persons with disabilities / injury (at risk of developing disabilities)
• Maintain good collaboration and coordination with the team members
• Report on a monthly basis, on activities using the internal reporting formats and contribute in
implementation of project Monitoring & Evaluation plan.
• Participate in coordination meetings and develop related reporting
• Provide line management and technical supervision support to national physiotherapist
• As required by the Project Manager or Regional Coordinator, participate in meetings with the
local authorities, I/NGOs and represent Handicap International’s position
• Build a network with all possible professionals in the area/region so as to increase the
possibility of referral to the required level whenever necessary
